Objectives

The aim of this conference is to exchange and discuss issues and methodologies related to research in science, technological and vocational education, to compare results obtained and to document latest advances in these topics within the Mediterranean region. It is also a question of promoting and developing research projects between the members of the SIEST network in order to develop a shared culture of research focusing on teaching and learning in scientific, technological and vocational fields.

This conference also aims at helping young researchers to communicate and publish their work. In this perspective, the proceedings of the conference will be published in the Educational Journal of the University of Patras UNESCO Chair (http://ejupunescochair.lis.upatras.gr/). Moreover, the scientific committee will propose the publication of a selection of texts in the Review of Science, Mathematics and ICT education (http://resmicte.lis.upatras.gr/)

Theme

The 6th SIEST Mediterranean conference will give the opportunity to present and question research work that is currently conducted in several areas:

(a)   Science, mathematics, technology, and ICT education from preschool to university, considering particular questions related to the use of ICT and children with learning difficulties.

(b)   Pre-service and in-service teacher education and lifelong learning for professional development of science, mathematics, technology and ICT teachers.

Organisation of the Conference

The next SIEST Mediterranean conference will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of April 2019 at the University of Patras in Greece. The final program will be available in January 2019.

The conference will host presentations mainly by young researchers (master students, doctorate students, post-doctorate researchers, etc) paired with senior researchers from the different teams of the network. The presentations will be carried out in French or in English. In order to encourage exchange and discussion, the conference proceedings will be published in the Educational Journal of the University of Patras UNESCO Chair before the conference. Thus, the submitted papers have to follow the guidelines consistently. If the guidelines and the deadlines are respected by the authors, the papers will be sent to experts from the scientific committee in order to discuss them and provide feedback for further elaboration.

Moreover, after the conference, the scientific committee will select a series of papers and encourage their authors to submit them to the Review of Science, Mathematics and ICT Education. The scientific committee will particularly consider contributions that bring together researchers from different labs of the SIEST Mediterranean Network in order to further develop collaborations.
